Whilst I was planning to head straight to Hoi An from Dalat but since I would have to change buses in Nha Trang I decided to do a one night stopover, even though I was warned it wasn’t worthwhile and full of Russians (no offence to the Russians).
So the next day, I had a lovely breakfast made in Dalat and said goodbye, again, to everyone who I’ll probably end up crossing over with again before long, and waited for my pick up. Then I was off to Nha Trang. Very pleasant journey to Nha Trang and it was lovely driving through the pretty scenery of Vietnam. And more conveniently, the bus stopped about two roads over from my hostel, Mojzo Inn. The hostel was packed when I got there and took a bit of time to get checked in, but the staff were so nice and escorted me to the room. Fortunately, as I was only there for one night I met a few girls in my room straight away who were heading out for the night with another group in the hostel for Paddy Day drinks, they invited me to join as they saw I was travelling on my own. It was a great night and despite it being a town that is heavily dominated by Russians, it’s a great night out. IN the first bar my night was made when I saw chips, cheese and gravy on the menu. Whilst I’m a huge fan of Vietnamese food, I couldn’t turn this opportunity down and it was worth every bite. Randomly, in one of the bars I ran into Tom, the guy who joined our scooter convoy just before the accident (and strangely from a few miles of where I lived). And also turned out that one of the girls (who was Danish) was friends with the Danes I had hung out with in HCMC. Small world. Him and his mates joined our group for a heavily boozy night which ended with us all sat outside the kebab shop eating cheeseburgers, like nights out back home. Hopefully, the late night will help me sleep well on the night bus the following day.
As that evening I was getting the night bus to Hoi An, the day was a chilled one mainly hanging out on the beach with the girls from the night before and Tom. Buying a few things like fresh coconuts and fruit off the women strolling up and down the beach. But the hangover hunger hit so greasy food was sought before deciding that hair of the dog would be a better bet. Late on I got a message from the guys who I’d left in Dalat to say they arrived, so I made a super brief visit to their hostel to say goodbye to the all once and for all, as it was time for me to move on quick than they would keep up. Was crazy that Ole and I realised we had been travelling together on and off for the last 2 and a bit months but we promised to stay in touch.
Rushed back to my hostel and got changed into slouchy clothes, collected my bags and headed off to find the night bus. I checked in and collected by ticket and boarded ready for the long night up to Hoi An. Nha Trang definitely wasn’t as bad as what people had made it out to be and it was a nice short and sweet visit.
