So on our second day in Noosa, we decided to stop being quite so lazy and go on a little stroll. We followed the coastal path in the national park, reminding me of a slightly warmer version of many family holidays down south! The places along the route had some pretty sinister names- boiling pot or hell's gates, anyone? No? There were some really lovely views of the sea and the crazy surfers, and the woodland areas were like a rainforest with plenty of lizards and eucalyptus trees.
We were hoping to see some koalas on the walk, hopefully slightly more active and awake than the caged ones in the wildlife sanctuary! We were very lucky and managed to see one one quite close to the start of the walk (spotted by me, yay, the person who is usually daydreaming all day!) and one on the way back. It's quite easy to find a koala when you pass a group of people looking up into a tree, though we did pass another group who seemed just to be engrossed in a tree, very odd!
After our walk we had a bit of a lazy afternoon, getting huge ice-creams and chilling out on the beach with a book. Can't wait for a hostel that has a decent TV and some films for an evening! I don't think I've ever read this many books in my life. It's very nice to have the time and the inclination, but sometimes even the very simple ones with the big letters make my brain hurt after a while! I've only bought one book this whole trip so far, off a street seller in Bangkok. It's quite easy to find them lying around hostels as everyone just throws them everywhere! You have to be a little bit careful though, a surprising number of books are German (no idea why!) and probably not the most easy reading!
We are now in Rainbow Beach, we only stayed here last night but had a nice time chilling on the beach (sense a pattern here?!). I went and watched the sunset on the beach all pink and blue aww, and got bitten like hell by the mosquitos, not quite so aww.
Today we are going to Hervey Bay in a few hours' time, to spend a night in the YHA there then we are off to Fraser Island for two nights. Looking forward to driving around in a 4x4, will definitely be an experience!
Anyway, must dash as I'm talking to Huw on skype and not giving him enough attention. Will update soon.
