So, I flew to Airlie beach on the 14th of September 2009, and started work on the 15th of September 2009 on Daydream Island as a portrait and candid photographer, and let me tell you... I had the time of my life!!
Living with the amazing Dena, talented photographer, work colleague, room mate and partner in crime. We went through a lot together, laughing or crying.
Russel and Leigh were our neighbours. Nutcases they were.
and room 43 will always be renouned for Tom and Cam's gatherings and happenings.
The outbreak of scabies will definately be a fond memory...
As well as the staff party's and farewell partys we all threw.
Oh, and who could forget Contiki pool partys, haha! ;)
There are so many people I had to say goodbye to on DDI. Richie Roo, Ray, Joe, Roxy, Dena, Russell, Leigh, Tom, Brooke, Dave, Brad, Jake, Bryce, Candice, Sarah, Chris... jsut to name a few... there are plenty more.
I met some amazing people on the island, and said goobye to many as well, but we shall all meet again in the future, I guarantee it.
Daydream is an amazing place, the views of North, Mid and South Molle's are incredible. I had an amazing sunrise through my bedroom window every morning, which was good when we had to wake up at 6am, but on your days off when all you wanna do is sleep and nurse an ill hangover, it wasnt so welcome =P
As much as I loved that rock, there is only so much you can take of being on a 1km long slivver of land 3 km away from the aus coastline. Every now and then, we would let loose on Airlie beach, wich had an insane night life for somewhere that is so small. Its a backpacker have, so Airlie by night was a crazy time.
I had been cruizing on the 'Dream for 2 months... and it's starting to get a bit tiring. I think my boss has picked up on this because a position on Long Isl has come up, and they have offered the job to me. Of course I said yes, because as much as I loved everyone on DDI, it was obviously my time to move on, and I am here for experience. If I said no I am only letting myself down.
Another chapter of my Whitsunday travels is about to begin. Stay tuned!
