So. I have been transfered to Long Island, 10 minutes away from Daydream Island. The day I arrived, it rained... and rained..... aaand rained some more!
I moved into my new room, that I had to share with someone. I wasnt a happy camper. Not because I didnt mind sharing with someone, but because Steven and Marnie didnt have to share. I finally met my roomie Allison. She is an amazing and wise person. I have never met anyone like her before. We got along like pea's in a pod, but she started doing night audit, so she would go to work at 6pm and wouldnt finish till 3am. She was waking me up when she got home from work and I was waking her up when I went to work in the morning. So, we both decided that this wasnt going to work very well, us living together and doing very different hours, so she moved out and got her own place (lucky b****, haha!) I started working, and I loved it! The work came to me, with the portrait voucher system, and it was too easy to sell.
I eventually was meant to get a new room mate, they wanted to put me in with a chef. I again, wasnt very happy with that. Chefs do funny hours too! and they have very strange temperaments. Plus, I didnt want my bathroom stinking of kitchen!
As Marnie was due to leave in January, they had decided to move her in with me. We both have very clashing lifestyles. I can be a messy blob sometimes, whereas she loves her harmony and all that hippie stuff. Dont get me wrong, I love her!! but I knew us living together was going to be a bad idea.
I went on a few nature walks here on Long Isl. Saw some amazing views. The Whitsunday circuit is by far my favourite. I still havent done the trek to Sandy Bay or Peppers Palm Bay... Their on the to-do list.
I had a photoshoot with Marnie. I made myself look like a doll with big teased red hair and cure little doll lips, the only item of clothing I had was a bikini botton and a black sarong to cover the top part of me. It was so much fun. I returned the favour for Marnie, doing a yoga shoot for her and also some natural shots in tree's overlooking the resort and the amazing sunset.
I met some more amazing and talented people. Long Island is so chilled, and ther is no staff bar, so msot of my evenings were spent chilling out the front of my place with everyone, just talking and smoking and drinking. Good times. I really needed the relaxed atmosphere after being on Daydream for so long, running myself into the ground and drinking heaps. My neighbours, Toby and Jerry were legendary. I love them to bits, seriously.
The food here on Long Isl is absolute CRAP tho... sometimes you cant even tell what is in the weird coloured slop! So, I was spending probs too much money on cafe food.
So, I was cruizing along on Long Isl quite nicely, I had a 15 day week coming up over xmas which would see me all the way to NYE. I got offered a roving photographer position, which meant I would go to DDI and Club Med to do relief since we had 3 photographers leave from all 3 islands. Xmas day came and went...before I knew it, it was new years eve, and I was flying to Brisbane to get away and to catch up with my friends and family.
And so, I leave Long Island for 2 weeks, one week in Brisbane, another week on Lindeman Island. Stay tuned for more!!
