To stop all you from hassling me here's the next part of our trip to entertain you with our stupidity....
On Friday night we had another sleeping bus, taking us Nha Trang. It was a horrible journey! We seemed to be going downhill the whole time but the bus was at least at a 45 degree angle. The driver didn't help as he was trying to overtake then having to slam on his brakes when spotting the car coming towards him. But we survived so thats all that matters. We then had 2 nights in Nha Trang. This is supposed to be one of the nicest beaches in Vietnam but we prerfered it at CatBa Island. The days were pretty uneventful, even for us. The highlight was going for an ice cream, which turned out to be disgusting. Very disapointed. It was nice to chill on the beach for a couple of days tho, until our attention spans ran out (that doesn't take very long).
On Monday we got the bus to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Siagon). At that was pretty much it for Monday, it was a 12 hour journey, oh the fun! When the bus finally did arrive I knew I was going to like it there. It was a lot more modern and Western than any of the other places we had been too. Any one who knows me will realise how happy I was to see department stores!! It looked soo busy outside and there were lots of lights and lit up stars hanging from the trees, it looked a little bit like Christmas. Im such a kid I love things like that. When we got to the hotel I went out for a little wonder and explore feeling quite excited about the place. I was even more excited when I saw a couple of nice little bakeries selling lots of pasteries and doughnuts! Yum. I didn't enjoy trying to cross the road though, it was crazy!! There were soo many 'motorbikes' and the traffic lights system makes no sense. It shows red, but they are still allowed to go?! The green man is flashing, yet its not safe to walk. By the end of our few days there we just about had it sussed. Basically you jst wlak and hope they stop or swerve around you. It was funny on the Tuesday night though when after standing at the side of the road for 5 minutes wondering how the hell we were going to cross a man came to our rescue. He told us follow him, all he did was walk waving his arms in the air at the traffic but it seemed to make little impact. At one point there were about 5 bikes coming towards us and we had nowhere to go so stood still, they literally missed us by a couple of inches and idn't seem bothered by us at all as we stood frozen and squeeling in the middle of the road.
On the Tuesday we went on a wonder around the city and saw some of the sights including the opera house, Notre Dame Cathedral and the post office. We also went out in the evening to see where the lights led us to, the answer was shops, so I couldn't help but buy a new dress (thanks mum for spoiling your princess haha).
The following day we went on a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, 'an immense network of connecting underground tunnels which were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War'. The size of the holes was stupidly small. We were given the opportunity to enter one the wholes but just watching other people do it made me feel sick! Although later in the tour there were some tourist tunnels which weren't as deep as the real ones and were bigger (1m high) and we were both brave enough to do approx 20m in these tunnels. There was an option to go further but we got the idea of it after 20m lol. We were taught all about the weapons which were used and the traps which were set. Most of them used bamboo sharpened to a point then poisoned by stabbing a scorpion. It was pretty amazing the amount of weapons that can be made from a bit of bamboo and a scorpion.
That was the end of our adventures in Vietnam and we prepared ourselves for Cambodia.

Cathy well you are certainly experiencing life and near death as far as I can make out. All I can say is rather you than me. I wonder what Cambodia will be like----Love you Nana
jackie Sorry to keep hassling you lol but we people here having nothing better to do until uni starts again so wait anxiously for your amusing tales. Hope you managed to take some pictures of Ho chi min city. You sure you're in the right city always thought Notre Dame was in Paris!!! Sorry the ice cream wasn't too nice the Ben and Jerry's here is lovely. I don't think I would have gone down those holes either claustrophobia would have kicked in and I would have been stuck there screaming to get me out lol. Sounds like most of your time is travellling must be very tiring. I am now going to be worrying about you going through Cambodia I hope its better than we see on the tv. Take care of yourselves. Love Jackie xx
