If you haven't realised I have added some more to the previous entry in Siem Reap about Angkor Wat if you want a read.
We travelled back down to Phnom Penh on the Monday for 2 final nights in Cambodia. We had no problems checking in this time though which was good. We didn't have much time to spend in Phnom Penh but we did find that on our visit we much preferred it to our first! Whether it wsn't as much of a shock and we were more used to it or whether it was actually different I'm not sure, but there didn't appear to be as much begging around this time. We enjoyed a little down the promenade next to the Mekong river in the evening and the following day we booked a tuk-tuk to take us to the killing fields.
Before arriving in Cambodia we were both unaware of the troubles that had occurred during the 70s. This was quite an eye opening and shocking trip for us as we learnt more about the political troubles and genocide that had occurred in Cambodia. We saw the site when hundreds of thousands of innocent people were killed and buried under the Khmer Rouge regime. We also visted S-21, the prison where people were tortured and kept before going to be killed. The evidence that we read was horrible and some of the men responsible are only being trialled for it now. It was worth visiting but it perhaps was the nicest day of our trip.

cathy Hi Hannah I wondered if you would visit the killing fields, did you see the place where all the skulls are? it makes me go cold at the thought of it. Love Nana
Jane Hey princess, you are having interesting time out there,I had nightmares of those children begging but I have always been told I am like an ostrich. The Cu Chi tunnels looked amazing and I will be reading up on this as I have no understanding of it.I went to see your Mum and Granddad they are both doing very well after their ops.I think granddad would like a book about your travels, perhaps you could make your fortune here.By the way loved your hat,did that come with the dress you bought!!! Marc and Donna are out there, they don't sound impressed with the tuk tuks.We are all enjoying your blogs, love you lotsxx
