ok so koh samui doesnt actually look like that but this computer wont let me upload my own pics. so here is an update. pattaya = awesome. had such a good time there. brian and yuphin were so welcoming and just generally let me have such a good time! ate some awesome food and by the time i had to get my flight to koh samui, the prospect of a dingy hostel was NOT appealing at all! anyway, i splashed out on a flight to koh samui (actually thas a lie - mum splashed out for me!) it would hve been a pretty sweet flight - bangkok airways is a really good airline and the food was actually among the best ive had in a while - definately teh best on any aircraft. the only thing spoiling it was the fact that i was sandwiched in between a window and a big fat german man who spent the entire journey breathing really heavily then coughing over everything every 4 breaths! fortunately, i didnt pick up his cough so im ok! got to koh samui and got on a mini bus to take me to mae nam (decided against chaweng or lamai as i wanted somewhere a bit more low key!) had to wait for more people to get on to make the trip profitable for the driver (ended up waiting an hour!) and finally got to mae nam and into my bungalow. im sure a travel guide would describe my bungalow something like this 'a rustic bungalow with vintage interiors and lots of life'. in real life that meant a basic room with a bed - a fan that is about to break off the wall any moment, and by 'lots of life' a GIGANTIC spider right outside my door! all is good though as it is about 6 paces to the beach. met a girl from england when i arrived and we went for a swim then went, got changed and went to get some dinner. was pretty funny actually because we were chatting and it turns out she was one of the founding members of the hertfordshire sirens uni cheerleading squad and she knows some of the girls from the GB squad that i know. after waiting an hour for the bill to arrive (yes an hour!) i made the observation that my bank card wasnt where i left it so got back to my room tipped out all of my belongiongs trying to find it and was left with nothing. so called home (slightly emotional) and got it cancelled now tho. phew!i am just such a muppet out here. in the future - i should DEFINATELY not be allowed to travel on my own! anyway, i felt i needed a drink so we went to the 7 eleven and got some beers and went back and played some cards. another girl joined us who is living here permanantly now. she is a singer/songwriter and runs an open mike night in the next bay every thursday night. she was saying about how they are all going otu afterwards into chaweng so i decided to call my boat company and move ride to koh tao back from tomorrow to friday (the thursday night plan sounded too good to miss!)also, it turned out that she was a cheerleader with the cornish sharks. can u believe it - 3 british cheerleaders in the same place in koh samui?!?! its crazy! so anyway, im enjoying myself a lot more here in koh samui than i expected. just was too early to go to koh tao today! anyway, ithink thats about it. gonna go get me some hair bands now and then get me to the beach again! maybe head inland and try and find some of these waterfalls!
