G'day there pep's. My girls (now known as my daughters!) have left me, saying goodbye to them at the airport was horrible, i miss them terribly, it was very odd being in Cairns for a night on my own. However it's now back from www.getjealous.com/croff and back to www.statraveljournals.com/hannahjary for the time being! I'll try to keep you just as well posted although i think that has already gone to pot!!
I arrived in perth after a massive wait in the smallest airport ever - Cairns - had one shop - no joke but i got talking to this little old lady who kept me well amuzed telling me all the things i needed to do in Perth! Made my way to a grande hostel it's in an old castle - amazing on the outside but more of a rubbish tip in the inside! With no time to waste i embarked on a cultural walking tour of the city (looking very touristy with my lonely planet), a few less skyscrappers than sydney and much more 'compacted' my feet were saved! After a wee trip down London Court and up the swan bell tower, i headed to Northbridge for their yearly festival. After a cracking chat up line (NOT) in the laundry room (how romantic - NOT) it was definately time for sleep (ALONE).
On sunday i headed to fremantle to check out the famous markets and street entertainment all a bit 'same same but different' however! Treked to the old round house - the oldest building in Western Australia - an old prison for the western settlers.
Monday took me on a tour up the west coast to the pinnacles (big bits of rock in the desert), a stop at the national park for some more sightings of koala's and kangaroo's, a trip tp hangover bay - a very fitting for a girl i met on the trip! The last stop was some of the most exhillerating 4 wheel driving on the sand dunes and some amazing sand boarding - suprisingly i didn't take home half the beach like i usually do! Treked up a massssssssssivvvee hill to kings park the locals thought i was mad - take the free bus they said! Jary said 'why do things the easy way and walked!) The views were spectacular though of the harbour and the city. Eventually found the 'DNA tower' and climbed the 101 steps to the stop to look backon a big park.
Wednesday has to top all days- i sailed out from rockingha, slipped into a wet suit and headed straight into the water to swin with wild dolphins, they were beautiful and really playfull! Experience the night life in Perth with my room mate - ended up in a rather tacky shack mind u! however met a whole footy team from melbourne - got their number!
The next dayi hopped on a ferry to rottnest island with a guy form the hostel (Mike) and wait for it.......hired a bike - i looked so fettching in the battered helmet that if i had of fallen off i doubt very much it would have saved me! fortunatly no cars are allowed on the island so my safety was reassured! untill i discovered i only had one brake! Mike was a little more of a cycle activist than myself since he's from Yorkshire - apparently what i thought were hills were mearly bumps in the road!
All in all Perth was lovely, the experience was great (very quiet witout my girls) - next stop Adelaide......................
