After a delayed flight i arrived in Adelaide late one night, hopped on the J1 bus line to Glenelg and found my beautiful hostel - no bunk beds Way-hey!! and a pumping bar downstairs that was much more chic than the downunder bar in Brisbane! ad to top it off a gorgous beach 30 secounds walk away (unfortunatly the weather was not going to permit me a visit in the sun but instead throw in some terential rainstorms!) Having not eaten for a while i headed for a naughty portion of chips only to be asked out on a date by the sweaty chippy guy behind the counter - NICE!! Instead i popped into the bar and met some really nice people from 'up north!'
The weather this morning is really dull so i caught the tram into the city, to steal a bit of the culture and stumbled across the 'central markets' they were busing with an awesome atmosphere, i could have been in Thailand again if it wasn't for the prices still being 500,000 the price of the baht!
It's 6am in the morning and i'm greeted by the hottest aussie yet - my tour guide for the next two days to Kangaroo Island - ALLLRIGGHT!!!I was joined by the rest of my group - 6 Italians, 5 Germans and 1 Dutch who also spoke German (little did i know that my Ipod would become my best friend to bloke out the German - Italiano conversations!) Apart from the company though the trip was great, the sites awesome - 600 steps up to a gorgous lookout point, some log-rolling and sand boarding down the spectacular dunes (i think i know have a whole beach in my stomach mind u!), night hunting for fairy penguins, spotting kangaroos, koalas, seals, guannas to name a few! It was topped off by the scariest sleepless night ever as i was so scared from being bitten by a white tailed spider -AHHH!.
To experience the Great Ocean Road (which is absolutly amazing) i decided to take a tour to Melbourne, there was only 5 in our group but the company was a dream compared to that of Kangaroo Island, the tour guide however was extreamly sleasy and asked 'if he could keep me and take me back to Adelaide' - MINGIN! The tour stopped at thousands of lookout points - the razerback, loch and Gorge and of course the 12 apostles. The Grampions national park was great but the treked up hollow mountain was more like rock climbing i really could have down with a harness! Adveture caving was one of the highlights - squeesing myself through the smallest of holes, doing handstands when apparently i should have been going feet first - i'm not impressed with the bruises i've subsequently aquired either - but it was so much fun!
