On the morning of the 16th I began making my way to Luton airport from my auntie's place. I had a flight to Athens at 2.30pm, so I figured leaving at 9 would give me enough time to struggle along :P
I walked (from memory! how exciting!) to the bricket wood station and got a train to watford junction, where i asked a young man how to get to the Luton airport. he printed off times but didn't actually tell me what to do, so I got to the first train and the train driver could see me struggling with life and so he offered to help me. He explained how i needed this train, then get off and walked for 20 mins uphill so he said he'd call me a taxi, but I said it was okay, I had plenty of time. then catch two more trains then a shuttle bus.
While he was explaining all this to me, I had my special travel notebook out to take notes, this is my notebook with just about everything important in it. Then suddently... I dropped it. Onto the train tracks. Underneath the train. Oh... my... god!!!
Train driver hopped out and looked at it and was just like... 'you couldnta dropped it a little to the side?' and saw the expression on my face, which was probably similar to pure horror. So he called out one of the other guys working in the train. This guy walked down in front of the train, and the train driver backed up the WHOLE TRAIN!!! So that the second guy could get my notebook. Far out!! They gave me my notebook and to prevent future notebook-dropping incidents they invited me into the first carriage so they could continue train driver's helpful explanations. Ahhh it was so embarrassing!
They told me when to hop off their train and begin my uphill journey with 24kg backpack on my back, and off I went! I actually made it to the airport by 12 so I had a long wait. But I much prefer not to be rushed. So I just hung out. ended up buying a think cream coloured jumper for 25pounds (don't convert it's too painful!) but i did need something warmer than my brumbies hoodie.
My flight was delayed like an hour which made me sad.
But yeah, English people are soo lovely!
Off to Athens now...
