Bulgaria was the first time we honestly struggled with a non-english speaking country. Everywhere else in Europe most people speak it, or you can work out certain words because they're similar. But Bulgaria uses the Cyrillic (?) alphabet. meaning they have random 3's, 6's and triangles, among other "different" looking letters. We couldn't even pretend to understand. Also, they don't have English as an option for anything. Most of the time English is written somewhere... but not here! On top of that, no-one speaks English. So.. after 2 hours trying to find the information stand in the train station so we could get tickets to Belgrade for the following day, we began our gigantic trek to our hostel. once we got there it was amazingly fun, great receptionists, funky living area...
So then we went out to get Asian takeaway for dinner!! Chillout night cos the previous 2 nights were crazy. We watched coupling on our ipods :D
27th Oct: Packed up and checked out. Went to the first grocery store we've seen in months and it was amazing!!! Markets were a big let down then headed to the post office to send home 2 small 2kg packages...
Lost my Eurail pass... SIGH so I had to pay extra money for the last 2 journeys that were covered by the pass, and I discovered my curry fried rice leaked into one of my small bags! Wasn't too dramatic but my big notebook is stained fluro yellow... don't ask me why it's that colour... I dont want to think about it.
Onwards.. to Belgrade!
