OH MY GOD YAY!! Best city ever! One day was not enough so I'm going there for about 5 after camp :P Amazing!
So we Landed in Times Square just after midday, and roamed around the whole day. Didn't really get to do as much touristy stuff as i would have liked but I knew I would be coming back. We started off with lunch at Hooters, notorious for skankily dressed waitresses but trust me when i say they have nothing else going for them. The food was awful. anyway, it was the novelty actor :)
Went into billabong, so excited that an Australian brand has gone international! Bought tickets for a Broadway comedy show for after camp, got an admit two ticket for $10 so I thought it was good:) Taking my friend sarah.
We went into this souvenir shop and the guy behind hte counter wanted my necklace (cos it has a kangaroo on it) and kept bugging me and I was like 'no, one of my best friends gave it to me as a farwell present just before I left the country for 8 months' and he fully didn't get it... so annoying! but funny too :P
Went into planet Hollywood to use the 'restrooms' which was pretty cool. Saw handprints in the walls of Wesley Snipes and Will Smith (got pics).
After lots of shopping we ended up in a bar which actually reminded me lots of austrlian pubs... don't worry everyone, I didn't drink! It's not worth getting deported! but I did have a ham and cheese toasted focaccia which was more amazing than you could imagine considering I'm at a kosher camp (no pig at all, and no dairy and meat together) it was heavenly!
Then the subway... and yes you probably will fear for my life. We were hopeless! Went down the wrong entrance into the subway so we paid, found out we were in the wrong place then had to go back up to the street and down the entrance on the opposite side of the road then pay again (sigh!) When we got onto the subway this really creepy guy came and stood unreasonably close to my and my 3 girlfriends, and I didn't even notice or a while, my friends kept making us move up the carriage and I couldn't figure out why then i did... cos he kept coming closer to us! We started freaking out butwhen we got off he stayed on so it was all good. Then we saw these awesome breakdncers in th e subway, it was awesome!!! So hot... and topless :P
Then we hopped on the second train by following some people in Mets shirts (oh we were getting to Shea stadium for the Mets vs Phillies Baseball game! WHOOP!) and chatted to them for a bit then followed them some more then finally made it to the game! (we were like an hour late) it was sooo good! i'm running out net time now but it was incredible, I love live sports so much and I'm sitting here in my wallabies shirt right now really missing rugby and seeing my little brother play!
Anway, gotta run but thought New York deserved its own entry!
han xoxo
