Awoke on the train to a Hungarian man talking really fast in Hungarian and waving his arms about, and we hoped that he was saying we were at Budapest. So off we hopped. And luckily we were!
It was very early (5.15am) so we hung out at the train station and caught up on writing in our diaries. We had heaps of people trying to sell us accommodation but we'd already booked something (obviously... who turns up somewhere without a place to stay..?), and one guy was hassling us to buy more expensive accommodation... what the? we were paying 7 Euros so we wanted to stick with our hostel. Got to our hostel around 9 am after a lot of wandering around side streets cos the place didn't have a sign!! Had a nap and then went for a wander, which included going up and down the same street like 4 times.. we're not quite sure why. Then it was 4.30pm and the sun was setting so we headed back to the hostel and cooked chicken flavoured pasta, then hung out with two cool American guys and then off to bed.
1st Nov: Can't blieve it's already November! I'm coming home next month! Woah.
Today we walked up to Castle Hill, got a train to the top and spent the day up there. A lot of wandering happened today, especially during the quest to find an ATM so I could spend money at the fun markets! Had a Hungarian Funnel cake.. mmm!! :)We went to the church and palace up there which were cool, and watched a group of boys doing parkour (flips and stuff... sorry Brendan and Eamon... it's a simple explanation!!) off some walls around the place. Hung out with Terry and Kevin again
2nd Nov: Brendan's birthday. I messaged Mum the number of the hostel so she called up after many attemps :P And so I had a chat to everyone which was awesome. Then the four of us went to the House of Terror, which happens to be free for students the first Sunday of each month... LUCKY!!! good times :PWhat are the odds of that?!?
Long walk to possibly the most beautiful church we've seen (and we've seen about 20-30 by now:P) it was sooo golden, and gorgeous glass panels!
Then we went to a nice cake place and I had a chocolate muffin.. nothing experimental :P Then we said bye to Terry and Kevin, and we caught the oldest metro in Europe to Heroes' Square. Had a wander through there, and the park and Luce and I each got some gloves that are like bum gloves but there's a mitten bit you can put over your fingers and wah-lah! mittens!
3rd Nov: Packed up our stuff and walked all the way to and up Castle Hill again. Then as we walked back we came across a restaurant to get goulasche and meat pancakes (Hungarian specialties). We got a 3 course meal cos it was cheap and included goulasche, and then got a meat pancake to share. By the time we were done with the soup, we were sooooo full!!! But we got through most of it and walked crippled, all the way back to the hostel and lay down for a while to give our tummies a rest.
Then to the train station to go to Krakow...
