We rolled into Brisbane to the sounds of Bris-vages' local hip hop and shining sun.
We were dropped off not knowing where we were going to stay but knowing after our week of 'flashpackers' we needed to stay somewhere cheap. After trawling up and down a steep hill with our backpacks, we found 'Brisbane City Backpackers' which had its own heated swimming pool and a girls room.
We checked into our 4 bed dorm to find we were left with the top bunks - great. Also, the two other girls were long stays (like more than a couple of weeks) and therefore had long stay amount of luggage and stuff strewn everywhere. There was no natural light in the dorm and it smelt. The smell was due to one girl being incredibly ill with the lurgy and was coughing and infecting the room constantly.
In Brisbane, there wasn't really a whole lot to do apart from shop and go to the museum. I'd say go out but as we were there in the middle of the week in winter the night life wasn't really that happening. However, one night I found a $20 note on the floor that managed to get Kim and I some treats.
Brisbane city is ok. I have met some people on my travels who rave about it but I just thought it was average. It was just a city to me with no quirk or highlight well not compared to some of the cities i've seen, including my own beloved Manchester!
