Hannah's Travels around Thailand
We got the Chao Phraya River Express down the river towards the port near China Town, we then got a rickshaw to China Town and had a wonder around there. It was so fascinating, the lonely planet said a highlight was getting lost in the many streets of china town and I can see how, the little streets were endless selling gold jewelry, shoes, handbags. There was also large food stalls selling all kinds of fish and something that looked strangely like a jelly fish??ewww... Once on the main round there was an array of bright yellow and red chinese banners and food vendors lined the street. I'd definitely say its a worthwhile visit, however once we'd wondered round for an hour or so we left to go back and get a bus. We caught a tuk-tuk however he obviously didnt know where he was meant to be going and took us to a tour boat,(not sure if it was set up), were we had to pay 200B to get a taxi back to the boat port, it was annoying but we were so tired and hot we couldn't be bothered to argue. After we go back to the hotel we left to get a ferry across the river when it started raining really really heavily, we jumped on a boat with an orange flag, with our big backpacks , failing to notice the boat was going in the wrong direction, so we had to get off at the next pier and wait for a boat coming in the next direction. We managed to get to the bus station quite easily, our Tuk-Tuk driver was driving like a bat out of hell along the motor way that I'm sure we were hitting ground force winds.
We arrived Damnoen Saduak ready for the floating market in the morning.
