Hannah's Travels around Thailand
Today we got up early and got our first Tuk-Tuk to Bangkok Grand Palace, we had quite a few people who approached us on the way trying to "help" us out by saying the palace was closed and we should be getting a Tuk-Tuk tour which just happened to go to certain shops!!hmmm....don't think so!! It was already boiling hot and it was only 9am, after mark had got some 'trendy' trousers to cover up in the temple we went to see the emerald buddha and the other temples close by, these were so amazing, there was a large gold statue called Phra Siratana Chedi which was covered in gold mosaic and shone brightly all over when it caught the light. The emerald buddha was awesome, not as I'd expected as I'd almost expected a giant emerald buddha but it was more like a shrine with lots of small buddhas. We then walked round the grounds, by this point we were both dripping with sweat from the heat so we decided to move on.
After attempting to follow the walking guide written in the lonely planet we ended up going it alone, as it was too confusing and people kept approaching trying to get us to go other places.
Wat Pho was our next stop, where we saw the enormous reclining gold buddha which is 46m long, however I can't say I saw in reclining at all?!
When we arrived back at our Guest House I relaxed while Mark had a Thai Massage, this was about 2 pounds for an hour!!So I think we'll probably both go and have one tomo!
I've been through two pairs of shoes since we've been here as my feet keep blistering and my blister plasters aren't working!!I think I need some slippers, Mark got some 2 pounds Gucci sunglasses today (i'm guessing fake).
Bye Hannah x
