Hello! Just a quick update because wi-fi is hard to come by here on the west coast and the pub i'm sat outside has some! Right now, Han and the rest of the Wolfpack are up on Franz Josef glacier doing a full-day guided hike through the ice and snow. It looks absolutely incredible and no doubt her stories and pictures from today are going to make me insanely jealous until i can do it myself someday. They're all wearing thick jackets and crampons, and the glacier towering above me looks like a very impressive climb! Unfortunately, my feet have failed me because they're still not quite good enough to be stuffed in walking boots for the whole day.. daymn. I thought the only way to drown my sorrows was to sleep the day away and watch DVDs in the camper, but actually Franz Josef village is a little gem, it's small and quirky, so I've spent the morning looking in the little odd shops and now i'm having a garlic loaf (which literally is a loaf of lovely bread brimming with garlic butter- stuff of dreams!) and an L&P in the lush NZ winter sunshine! I'm off to see some infamous kiwi birds in a wildlife centre in a second, and then when the clan come back off their walk, we're all off to the glacier hot pools down the road- yay.
We've had a good couple of days with a lot of driving through mountains and lakes (rugged beauty!) by Lake Wanaka and some gorgeous sunsets on the coast. Last night we cooked ourselves up a feast of scrambled egg (yes Dad, I like it now..!) and sausages with lots of ketchup. In the next couple of days we're journeying up the west coast and across to Kaikourai, visiting the Poo Pub at Mahinapua and Greymouth etc along the way..! Hope everythings good back home. Lots of love from beautiful nz xx.
