Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
Went to Stuart's work with him the other night. Hung out at the bar, and when he had some free time he came over to show me some card tricks. I think the bar tender got a bit jealous or something and after that spent the rest of the night making quarters appear in soda cans, olives disapear beneath glasses and juggling between making me free drinks. Not a bad set up.
Next day went to the Panama Canal, and then flagged down a bus to go out to a rainforest resort in Gamboa. Busses you flag down like taxis, and they are really just beat up mini vans. Taxis, don't expect them to get you anywhere in a hurry, because they'll pick up other passengers and bring you in the complete opposite direction of where you are headed before going to your destination. And if you get pulled over by the police smile pretty and pretend you don't know what the hell is going on since you supposedly don't know a word of spanish.
After having a drink while looking out at the rainforest and Monkey Island, began to walk back to somewhat of civilization to try and flag down a taxi, but instead was picked up by some Panamanian guy and his Norwegian girlfriend who were headed back to the city.
Stuart's mom took us out to dinner last night at a place just down the street. Cosmos, wine, ceviche with banana chips and shrimp ravioli = perfection. Went to a local dive bar after that to play a couple rounds of pool and to find out that I apparently attract Panamanians who recently have gotten released from jail. Try that for a pick up line. Lucky me.
Went to Club Seis after that since Stuart knew one of the bouncers so we could get in for free. Attempted to dance some Salsa, but after failing miserably returned home to reminisce about old high school experiences and people I haven't thought about since graduation. Fell asleep to Shakira, drunkards and my helecopter cieling fan above my mattress.
Today wandered around in old bookstores looking at the used books section, and sifting through old Alabama University course handbooks and computer manuals that ended up among them. Spent most of the day just lounging around playing with Silly Puddy and reading strange novels by Brautigan. Going out again tonight and then leave for the country on Sunday morning. The End.
