Day 19 -Woke up for a 7am breke at tick tick diner. We are sad to be leaving New York knowing there's still do much to see and do but very happy with what we've done. We like the New Yorkers who are blunt but genuine and friendly. There are surprises around every corner and it has a powerful, commanding aura about it. Headed to Penn Train station which was just across the road from our Nee Yorker hotel. Caught a 9.30am train, jump on, bag up, sit and BAM! Off we go! No safety talk or unneccessary banter! There's no time wasting in New York, everything is done at speed (much to Mike and Connors delight- Maia and I are still trying to keep up). Had a pleasant trip, fast, warm and comfortable. Arrived in Philly at 11, caught a cab to Embassy Suites. It's lovely, and everyone is so friendly. Did some laundry before heading out to the city hall and JFK plaza, otherwise known as love square. Had fruit for lunch, eating just breakfast and dinner has worked well so far. It's pretty cold at 0 degrees but more sun than we've seen. Philadelphia has a real feel of history with its beautiful buildings and mixture of impressive glass sky scrapers. We then walked to the Philadelphia Museum of Art down the Benjamin Franklin parkway. So much to see, lots if sculptures. Did our Rocky poses on the entrance steps before spending the rest of the day there. The museum itself was spectacular, a grand building. We saw tapestries, artworks, medieval armour and sculptures from a variety of famous historical artists, dating back to the 12th century. It was so interesting. We headed home for dinner at TGIFs in the dark. Had an early night.
