Day 17- We had a great day today. Got up early and put 5 layers on instead of 4 and walked straight to the Empire State Building to use our tickets. Walked straight in and up, no queues, pretty amazing 360 degree views. By the time we got out the queue was miles long! Got a metro card for the subway, jumped on for the Brooklyn Bridge. Got off at city hall and couldn't walk past Modells the sports shop, and picked up a few bargains. Walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, fantastic views of Manhattan. Bought a hot dog on the street once we got to Brooklyn. Decided to walk back over the Manhattan bridge, quite a difference in tourists from the Brooklyn Bridge, passed 2 or 3 people! It's do much better doing things ourselves, and being flexible. It was much warmer today at 3 degrees! Way more comfortable than yesterday. Hit Chinatown, which was really cool, very authentic, busy and pumping. Picked up some more bargains, perfume and t-shirts. Found the subway and back to 34th street. Maia bought some boots from Steve Madden, decided to walk home for a rest before heading out again for a look around Times Square. There were people everywhere, we had to go right down to 55th street to enter. Huge screens were up, we were at least 13 blocks away from the action!! Decided to have dinner and walked into a very posh Italian, we were totally out of place! Anyway, had a nice meal and headed out again to Times Square. The police and fire dept are in full force and really friendly and patient. Came home and watched the festivities on the tele, then popped out again at midnight.
