BEIJING CITY, Beijing Province:
Did not sleep well last night!
I'm sharing a 4-bed dorm room with three other girls (one from Korea, and the other two are Chinese - I'm guessing, mainly because they've been speaking Chinese...)
However, each of them individually are unbelievably noisy; put together it's insane! One of them snores, REALLY LOUDLY - even louder than Dad! One of them gets up at stupid-am (yesterday 5, today 6.30) switches the main (bright) light on and faffs around noisily with her things, and the third one is in the bunk bed above me, and fidgets loads in the night - so violently that the whole bed moves!
Anyway, night-time aside, this hostel's pretty nice. The bathroom's are clean and the room's a decent size - the bed's like sleeping on a plank of wood (I think that's because I am), but it's only for a few more nights til I can move into the dorm rooms at the university.
So, first day at work today, working for TTC. Got to Solaro's office for 10, helped Fiona with some computer stuff, then we (me, Fiona, Solaro and June) got a taxi to the university, where we dropped some stuff off, said hi to Przemyslaw and went for lunch.
After lunch we had a staff meeting, met the new Chinese assistants and got all of our duties outlined for the next couple of weeks. The new interns come on Wednesday, I'm really excited about meeting them all actually! Have stopped being nervous for a bit haha. I think this is going to be hard work, but I'm really looking forward to it.
After a day of helping to sort out the welcome packs and the name tags for the new interns, I decided on an easy dinner at the hostel's cafe - rice with vegetables and cheese (!!!!) and some chips. Yum yum. Spent my whole day's wages, but it was totally worth it - the budget starts back again tomorrow!
