Our Travels
What a place! We've now spent two full days in Buenos Aires and have both decided that its the best city we've been to so far. This place seems to have everything going on.
On the first day we did the tourist thing and went sight seeing, taking in the congressional house, la Casa Rosada and the Boca Juniors Stadium amongst other things...before doing the true British abroad thing...and went shopping! In the centre of the city there are 3 or 4 streets that are pedestrianised and are 100% shops. It was like being in one massive shopping centre. Also at regular intervals we came across street performers, such as the two in the picture, who entertained crowds of people with singing, dancing or soccer tricks! In the evening we went hunting for the nightlife and when by 12 o'clock we found not even bars had even opened we decided to get and ice-cream and go home...sad eh!?
On day two we took an hour long train ride (which before visiting South America, I would have considered quite a long trip, but it doesn't really compare to 18 hours on a coach!) to a smaller tourist city outside Buenos Aires called Tigre. Here we took a boat trip around the city, with a spanish speaking guide telling everyone everything there was to see. needless to say we missed out on a lot so just stared out the windows!
Tomorrow we visit the Brazillian embassy for exit stamps, a little late but necessary, we are told, to avoid fines, and then we depart Buenos Aires and head west into the Andes and Mendoza. Many photos and postcards to come!
