After a sleep in we got up and walked to the train station and had the option of going to Nice, Cannes or both. We hopped on the nice train waiting forty minutes before the train finally came. Nice has a nice looking main square with a fountain, grass areas, statues etc.
As a group of Australasian's we made our own way through the city and the very busy food markets where we bargained with a gypsy to sell Lisa and Alicia a pair of sunglasses under his asking price, got them at half the price for two pairs!!
Nothing else was opened being the weekend; every second person had a dog on a leash! Headed towards and up the hill to see the ruins of Le Chateau, not much there really except a few ruins but the view of sea, beach and city were great. Walked through "Old Town", very narrow streets with cafes, shops in the buildings, along with random big churches in the middle of buildings, Couldn't decide what we all wanted for lunch but went past a local French man who spoke English so we had sushi from his cafe for lunch - talk about a bizarre mix of cultures.
When saw the beautiful white sandy beach all I wanted to do was run and jump in but was persuaded not to because the wind had got up and there was a chill in the wind.
Finally made it home to campsite after train delay by half an hour and got dressed up for Monaco and Casino. Drove to Monaco along Cote d'Azur route along coast and wonderful views of mederterainien, countryside and massive villas. Monaco 2nd smallest city in world and 100% urban. Seen outside of royal palace and church and aqua museum created by Prince Albert. After looking around went to Grand Casino, rather expensive but beautiful rooms and ceilings inside, worth going to once, didn't win any money on pokies either only put 40 euro on (tables to expensive for us as well!!). Then walked around and went to another two casinos within a couple of minute's walk of each other, just normal casinos. Could see F1 track being set up (in two weeks). Very hilly place and a lot of high-rise apartments without grass and very heavily populated, 0% tax as casino's make enough for country to survive.
Very beautiful and rich, was so amazed with the different class of lifestyle here compared to the rest of the French Riveria, you can't just move here you have to be invited and have a certain of money in your bank account.
