In honor of accountability, I'm updating the to-do list. Here are the major accomplishments that have gone down since I last wrote.
1) I cleaned my sleeping bag- (see photo). We don't have a clothing line and you arent supposed to dry them in the dryer so this was my solution. For those of you not in Gainesville right now, we are currently experiencing hurricane style winds. This afternoon I was going outside every other second to re-hang it over the fence. Finally, it caught a prickly bush, formed a natural drying line and that is where Im leaving it until its dry.
2) I forgot to write this on my to-do list (which is why you always make two kids), but I'm selling the old Long Haul Trucker bike. Its sad, if anyone from Tom's office is reading I am offering a grief counseling line, but it needed to happen. You might ask, "but Lindsey, arent you going to the Netherlands, heaven on earth for bikes and their owners?" Its true, but after researching the costs of bringing it over (about 210$ including packing it, bringing it through Delta and putting it back together in The Hague), I decided I would try to sell it and buy a crappy one once I get there. Anyway, knock on wood, Im meeting up with the buyer today (with Safety Paul at my side) to get her off my hands.
3) I got my Charles Schwab security device- I feel like a secret agent
4) I got my phone- I feel like a technological caveman because I do not understand it
5) Ever since zainy brainy went out of business, I no longer have an easy place to find legoes (or crazy bones) but Im working on it
6) Also, I got seats on my flight! This is exciting because I am taking AeroSvit (I had never heard of it either) but it's a Ukrainian airline which has apparently not heard that the Soviet Union collapsed. This means there is an intense class system which keeps me from getting anything that could be even close to what one would consider a "good seat". Workers of the World Unite! Its not so horrible, I have an aisle seat so I cant really complain, but Im pretty sure Im right in front of the bathroom.
7) Currently packing, which is a beast of its own entirely
Speaking of packing...many of you have been wondering about books (I read somewhere that if you say "many of you", people will assume a lot of others are reading your blog, therefore making it more popular). No, I didn't get a nook- im bringing the old fashioned kind, but thats ok because Im not bringing a laptop, so I have room.
Here is my reading list:
1) The Relentless Revolution (A History of Capitalism) by Joyce Appleby
2) Strategic Vision by Zbigniew Brzezinski
3) Coming Apart by Charles Murray
4) The Kings Whisperers by someone but I am too lazy to go look
5)The Price of Civilization by Jeffrey Sachs
You can tell Im putting off the clothes part of packing. I tell myself its because I need to wait til the last minute so i can only do laundry once, saving water and wait time.
