We stayed in a hotel last night so that we could get our bags unpacked and into the camper before starting to camp.
Litchfield is Conneticut's best-preserved 18th century town, much of the town centres around a long oval green, surrounded by beautiful old clapperboard houses all in pristine condition. We were told that every summer some locals open their houses for tourists to visit but it was a little early in May so we couldn't visit any of them. It is a very refined place where everyone you meet in the street says hello and the shops sell 'country set' clothing the like of which we don't see anymore and which you could just imagine being worn down at the country club. Rather than drive into the town for some bits and pieces which decided to walk which was a 10 mile walk there and back, a bit tiring carrying supermarket bags!!
