Since we have only 2 weeks in Peru we've planned a whistle stop circuit to take in some of the places recommended by other travellers we've met. Only one night in Lima and the only sightseeing was done in Mango where they had a 40% off sale on most items. Bought an essential pair of jeans (yes, another pair, Natalie) but hopefully these ones are the right size. Stayed at Friend's House on a residential street which is pretty difficult to find at 11pm - 20 soles (6$) a night each in a dorm room with breakfast included.
Now in an oasis near Ica. Strange place where you can go sandboarding or ride in dune buggies. Really not much else except get stoned but we have 2 nights here since it is cheap(a double room for 25 soles a night). Be careful about taking siesta through lunchtime as you can only get banana and chocolate pancakes after 2pm. Not a problem for me, of course. Had to have cigarette to stave off the hunger til dinner time though. Last one.
Attempted to climb a sand dune whilst Natalie went on the tinter. Her sports' injuries prevent her from walking long distances. I managed a 5 minute climb then sat down for 15 minutes to get my breath back. I'm sure the views from the top aren't impressive anyway.
Bit of a random stop really but worthwhile if you're going past Ica anyway. Lots of people just hanging out doing the hash thing - handy to bring papers with you as apparently a little tricky to get here.
