Day 7 - the trip is halfway over, the picture I posted with this update was taken at around the 4000 mile mark. Unbelievable that we have come so far in just 7 days! I'm working on several good blisters and time in the saddle is getting harder each day, but the roads and the views make all the pain seem such a small price to pay.
We started the day with a ride through Olympic National Park, finally seeing the Pacific Ocean at Ruby Beach. We took a long break to walk down to the ocean and touch the water, finding it hard to believe we had actually done it. We then proceeded down the famous highway 101 - the Pacific Coast Highway - where we found more amazing roads and views.
We crossed into Oregon before lunch (I think - its getting so hard to keep track!) and while I had seen pictures or the Oregon coast, once again they don't compare to seeing it with your own eyes. So many beach towns nestled between mountains that march into the sea, beautiful dark blue-green water crashing on sandy beaches, and always the smell of the pines. Every day I see something new, and every day I'm humbled again by how beautiful our country is.
Tomorrow is more coast, the redwoods, and then we turn east for the first time to head for Tahoe.
