Today we woke up relatively early and had some breakfast before deciding to do the walk up and around the Kaikoura Peninsula.
The walk was beautiful, amazing views from lakes to hills, mountains to sea. The best bit ofcourse though... Seals! Seals seals and more seals. They were so closer we could touch (not that we dared to). We saw babies and fully grown seals and the noise they make is so so strange. We got some good pictures before carrying on to find the path blocked by a huge lazy seal who seemed intent on staying put!
Next came the hills... There were a lot more hills to this walk then we were led to believe and after a few wrong turns we added to that!
The walk took us roughly 4 hours to complete but that included a lot of stops for photos and seal time!
We had a chilled afternoon and I got talking to a Swiss guy called Valentine or Valentino as he preferred. He had been on a fishing trip and had a good catch. We decided to pair our dinners, his fish (cooked beautifully) and our veg curry and rice. Made for a pretty good combination. We spent the rest of the evening the three of us playing cards, learning magic tricks (I'm now a professional magician) and learning to play back gammon... Now that's a game it's going to take me a while to master.
By this point it was pretty late so we called it a night and headed to bed.
