Today was my first day in Florence! And surprise surprise? no internet!!Our hotels just get worse and worse. This one is pretty ghetto. The shower is the in the middle of the bathroom, in between the sink and the toilet. There is no tub or definite borders, and the shower curtain only goes around about 2/3 of the general shower area.Needless to say, it's interesting.Even though this hotel is the least nice, it is one of my favorites so far.Everyone is on the same hall or in the same area as each other, and we all keep are doors open while we are there. It is fun.Plus, our window opens up to a courtyard, along with lots of other windows.Directly across from us is a room of boys with a porch, so we have been yelling from room to room.Breakfast stinks.
This morning we went to the Uffizi, the most important museum in Florence. There were tons of paintings by artists like: Caravaggio, Corregio, Goya, Bottecelli, and more.It was pretty interesting. We had to wait in line outside for 6 years, so we didn't get to spend very long inside.I would have liked a little more time.Once we got out of there, we were already running late.We had to get pizza on the run in order to make it to our second museum on time. The next museum was the one with the statue of David, the Academia Museum. It was pretty cool too. Then we went on a walking tour of Florence and saw many of the most important buildings.
After our walking tour we went to do laundry. It was definitely an adventure.I am a genius and forgot to bring a laundry bag, so I stuffed all my laundry inside my pillow case and walked down the street.I'm sure all the Italians were thinking "Silly American girl and her bright pink pillow case!"We spent a couple hours washing clothes.Of course, it wouldn't be Europe without drinking? so at 4 in the afternoon, some of the boys went and got beers to accompany them to the laundry mat! Then, in the middle of my second load of laundry? the power cut out!!So the owner had to come fix it and we all got money back!A lot of my clothes can dry because they will shrink.Unfortunately there were NO hangers in the closet so we had to resort to letting them air dry flat.Mine and Lauren's room looks ridiculous. We have clothes laying flat on every inch of our floor.Oh well?
After laundry I came back and took a short nap, and got ready for dinner.A small group of us went to dinner at a place called "Yellow".It was wonderful!!!! I had spaghetti! But I was jealous of the other peoples food too.I have turned into a major food sharer.I swap bites like a mad woman.I like a little taste of everything. After dinner, I had every intension of coming back and going to sleep; however, that did not happen. The entire group, of 50 people, where going out to a club for dancing? you can't pass that us.So I went and it was a blast.I stayed out until 3, but it was worth it.Tonight was the first night that our whole group hung out together.Well.. For obvious reasons, I am beat!
