Hello for the last time from me from Tokyo although I suspect you will receive a few more blogs from Brian even after we are home! The last 2 have been from him after I had a bit of a rant and told the others they needed to share their experiences!
The past few days have been a whirlwind of trying to fit in everything we wanted to do and see in Tokyo. The boys decided they wanted to see the famous Tuna auction at the fish markets and left the hotel at 4.15am but were too late as the 240 places were already taken! They did however get to see 2 huge Tuna (bigger than Ollie and Chelle they tell me). After that it was more shopping all over the place and Chelle, Steve and Brian then left around 4pm for the Baseball game at Tokyo Dome. Ollie and I were so relieved we didn't have to walk anymore and were sound asleep by 8pm. By all accounts the baseball was a highlight for the other three - a sea of purple, free Tshirts, fans (Japanese are BIG on fans) and a glow stick given to each member of the crowd. Lots of entertainment and apparently some little Japanese ladies with kegs of beer on their back running up and down the stairs serving patrons! (Only a girl could do that).
The next day - our last full day in Tokyo I had promised to take Chelle and Ollie to Tokyo Disney so it was an early breakfast and off to Disney - 2 trains and about 50 minutes later we joined the queue with about 100,000 other people at the entrance. We had been warned to expect to queue so we just surrendered to it. We had a fabulous day. It was hot and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We soon worked out the rides and fast pass system and had our day totally booked. The kids went on every fast ride/rollercoaster they could find while I minded the bags! Unfortunately Space Mountain was closed that day but Chelle took it gracefully!
We ate fried chicken and churros in the shape of mickey mouse and Chelle downed a turkey leg! It was a goregeous, clean and fun place and we had a ball. We left at around 5 and were home by 6 in time for a shower and our last dinner at Singapore Seafood Restaurante right next to the hotel where Steve and Brian finally got their fried rice! A great end to a fabulous 2 weeks but Ollie and I were shattered so went to the room early and crashed!
It was up early this morning for checkout and breakfast at D&D and last minute shopping that included Harajuko, Shinjuku and Ginza.
Back to the hotel to move stuff around amongst the luggage so we weren't overweight and then we were picked up by our limousine service for the airport.
As I write this, we leave in about an hour and we are all safely in the qanatas club having had showers, dinner and re-charged all of our devices. The two boys have of course gone shopping (AGAIN).
I highly recommend Japan for a visit. It is a goregeous place with very friendly people who are humble polite and organised!
My blisters have blisters and I have had a couple of massages including a 1 hour foot massage before we left for the airport but it has been worth it.
I hope you are all well and looking forward to seeing you soon.
