Gregor and Paula's Big OE
Hi everyone,
Thought it was time for a quick update!
I left London last Monday and headed up to Cambridge to meet up with Alan and Yvonne Teviotdale. Had an extensive look around up there. Its a lovely area. They had a rental car so cruized around in that for a couple of days. I'm very surprised by the countryside in England! Its so green and lush looking, just every few k's there is another village! Bikers everywhere, pleased I'm not driving or there'd be a few less cyclists around! And they don't wear helmets!
They were camped outside the familys home who they bought the camper from, very funny younger couple, when I say that I mean mid 30s! His name was shamis, I think that I spelt it wrong, and he's Irish! Laugh a minute really, come out with some crazy stories!
Anyway we finally left on the Wednesday and half way through our travels, the front passenger seat started smoking!! I thought it was because yvonnes butt was hot! But no, the back up battery that runs the power in the camper was on fire! Bloody hell! Right on one on the busiest intersections we could find too I might add! We couldn't stop it and we thought everything was all going to go up in flames! Soon alan discovered that the nobbie thing on top of the battery was touching the metal part on the seat and making sparks! Fricken germans, they made our van. So that was enough drama for one day.
We eventually made it to a place called St Lawrence which was by the coast, not much of a beach but the camp was nice.
Thursday we got the battery stuff all sorted and carried on to Herne Bay, which was lovely! Right by the coast again, was 27 degrees too. We'd had about three days of good weather so I thought it was Christmas. There is a wind farm out in the sea there too, just like mossburn but in the ocean! Stayed there for two nights until it started to get cold again. Most of the time we have no idea where we are going, pretty much just pick a place on the map and go!
Ended up in a place called Sandwhich, stayed in the dodgyist camp ever, lots of old run down vans, no toilets or showers (lucky we have them in the van), old men wondering around. I didnt venture outside much! Plus it was down to only 9 degrees again! On sunday we drove to Dover (the whitecliffs) and had a quick look there - will have to go back on a nicer day.
Gregor now has a room to himself so I came back to London on Monday and caught the train down to see him. Was an interesting trip. Gregor is good, still the same. Ended up rousieing all day on the Tuesday, wasnt really prepared for that - now I can hardly walk and my sandals are all covered in s***! Gregor shore his first 300 on English soil. The farmers are not very organised so alot of the time is spent waiting around on them to bring in the sheep and draught them off. Funny to watch. We started at 8am and finished at 8.30pm. So managed to get a free ride down on the train cos I used my old ticket as they never checked it last time, and £20 pound for my days work, better than nothing, could have been worse. Decided that one day of that was enough so came back to London yesterday and spent the night with Amy. Went to a nice Thai restaurent in Putney then dessert of course at another restaurent! Amy thinks Im a bad influence.... my bikini body isnt coming along to well at the moment...
Meeting up with Alan and Yvonne again today, and I think we will be heading down the Southern and Western coast of England. Havent seen a Castle yet! Think we are looking at one this afternoon.
Sorry I cant put photos on, for some reason Amy's computer doesnt like my camera and wont pick them up. Do it next time.
Hope all is well and sorry if this is a repeat for lots of you.
Love Paula
