Come with me on a journey through time and space
day 6 of the connections tour our tour of the island, we started driving down the main highway, so bizarre having a beach as a road. dodgy to cross though as you couldnt hear any noise from the 4wd's. lovely beach but you couldn't swim at all due to the strong currents that take you out to all the waiting sharks. we were also warned to be very careful of the dingoes. every thing in this country has a warning "you may die" we stopped at a shipwreck on the beach. an old vessel purchased by the japs for scrap in the late 30's.it was beleived that they may have delibirately run the ship aground in order to survey australia for 6 months prior to ww2. decided to take a flight on a small 7 seater plane which took off from the beach, while a guy held up a stop start sign to stop the traffic so we could take off. awesome experience accross the trees and rainforests (the rainforrest areas look like giant brocolli from the sky), continued over the perch pools and lakes before flying over the ocean. it was quite a bumby ride and was awesome to see a huge shark at the surface of the sea as we were coming round to land. next stop wqas champagne pools, an area where the sea washed over onto some rock pools leaving a nice area of water around the rocks, within here were squid, fish & crabs. i had a little paddle. Then back on the bus, bumby as hell especially at the back. Aisha the tour host decided to serenande robbie williams to me at the back of the bus, this was the start of robbie, you will find out what i mean latter. stopped at indian head, we climed the top with our lunch to look out to sea in the hope of spotting sharks. no sharks this time but plenty of turtles and stingrays. after a wet start to the day the heat and sun was really building. last stop of the day was to a freshwater creek that washed out to sea. waded through to cold water (stream) to the top and gently floated down witha beer or 3 in hand, really was enjoyable. i didnt realise i had burnt the hell out of my face and arms leaving me with the meanest watch mark ever seen. after dinner spent the rest of the eveing at the bar. instigated a few games of pool. 1st off england v's germany. hannah & myself v's Farhad & anett. 2 nil to the en-ger-land. then killer, tough to explain the rules to each nationality who play all sorts of rule. Laura won. some dodgy party game where you have to pick up a box with your teeth without touching the floor with anything other than your feet. aisha & debbie had a go but couldnt defeat some guy with a dodgy ponytail. i was asked today by aisha whether i minded being called nige, i said as long as its not niggle in not bothered. this was a mistake, niggle has stuck. Tony the 4wd driver was probably the most pissed bloke at the bar, trying in vain to chat up anyone of the girls he could. quote of the evening. "who are you, i have a right to know who is touching up my mate" in fact it was just some duch guy who dicided to sit down at the same table and say hello. again i was last from the group to bed, drunk again.
