Smokey and the bandits.......
We all got a chance to experience Kirkwood which was as promised much craggier with slopes which resembled our alpine reds and blacks.
Hubbie had taken a chance the day before when leaving the resort and had brought a day pass from a random bloke in the car park, a saving us 50 dollars on my pass for the day. Luckily it worked. No.2 son had also found some free lunch thanks vouchers the day before. But there is no such thing as a free lunch as we learnt later after exhausting ourselves on some challenging off-piste.
The waitress was most apologetic. The vouchers were duds. Someone had been handing them out for the past two weeks. She seemed genuine but it could have been a very clever marketing scam to get new customers for the unaffiliated newly opened restaurant. All was not lost through and we had a good lunch with more giant burgers.
Despite the height of the resort he snow conditions had deteriorated in the early afternoon, so we only managed a few more runs after lunch before heading back to hit the hot tub..
The 40 minute drive passed quickly as we soaked up the stunning scenery, but it wasn't enough to keep some of us awake. Ten minutes from home we had a rude awakening when we were pulled over by the highway patrol. Hubbie hadn't come to a complete stop at a junction and unfortunately a state trooper was travelling on the same road and noticed his error. He was very pleasant and let us off with a warning. But informed us that we are now on the system so would need to super cautious to avoid a future fine. Good news for me as I might get a chance to drive the RV in Washington state.
