Hi gang from beautiful Austria
Wow what a country, just spent 3 nights in Vienna to be blown away by the bueaty then we arrived in Salzburg this morning on the train to find an even prettier place, seeing snow capped mountains and autumn leaves is never tiring.
We arrived in Vienna from Prague after experaincing our first train trek in Europe, it was fairly esy except for the rush to get everyone (and their bags ) on the train before it left without warning. We were still trying to find space for our bags as the train pulled out from the station. Good trip with the scenary changing all the time, then we had to work out the Austrian local bus system to get to the hotel, again worked out but a little stressful working out which stop to get off at, on a very busy bus but the driver was very helpful.
Our hotel was nice and comfortable being slightly larger than previous and even English TV programs for a change, we did the usual Hop on Off bus during the day, going up the local scenic tower was really cool AND I MEAN COOL, about 5 degrees i reckon. Then back to the hotel to rest and put our glad rags on to go out for a dinner/concert tour. Yes a little culture for a change with some Opera and Mozart/Strauss recitals but it was fun as we met a couple from Munich (originally UK and Bulgaria) and had a pleasant evening with them. Our second day was a tour to Wachau which involved a bus trip to the Danube River some 2 hours out of Vienna for a boat ride to an Abbey in Melke from a place called Splitz, another fun day with an American couple chatting during the boat and lunch time.
Left Vienna today vowing to return and spend more time there, train into Salzburg this moring for anothet Hop on Off experiance to take in the sites, tomorrow we are off to Sound of Music, then Bavarian Mountains and salt mines to round off our too brief a stay in this bueatiful country.
Shops in Salzburg amazing, especially the christmas shops that operate all year round, we had a ball but felt very restricted with our baggage limits so will reluctuntly leave heaps in those shops.
Computer in our hotel is free but only one monitor so we are suffering a smokey cafe tonight but hope to get some more photos on our site tomorrow.
OK ciao for now
Martin & Kerry
