Well well well...
It has been a while since my last post. Been uploading photos as i have gone along, but i havnt updated you guys since last Tuesday! (Such a long time ago!)
But yeah, where i left you i was in Franz Josef, and i had just done my Glacier hike. The next day we travelled to Wanaka (Not w***a, Dad...). On the way there we saw some breathtaking scenery, with mirror lakes, and the Southern Alps. Wanaka itself was quite a small town, but just the surroundings and the lake were spectacular! Also the $6 BBQ wasnt bad... We spent 2 nights there, rather than the standard one night, so we just hopped on the next bus out of town the day after. But it was worth it. Me, Andy, and Tom went mountian biking around part of the lake, and found a nice pontoon and a rope swing in to the river to mess around on. Got a little bit sunburnt on my shoulders though, as i was, and still am, as pale as a sheet of paper.
The next day we were headed to Queenstown, and after some slight confusion on which coach we were on and if there was enough space, all was sorted and we were off. Our first stop was a place called Puzzle World, and as the name suggests, it was rather puzzling. There was a large outdoor maze, which would have been better if it wasnt raining at the time, and also a Optical Illusion room, which was trippy to say the least. Overall though was good fun. The next stop was the Kuwara River Bungy Jump, which was 43m high, and had a dunking in the river at the bottom. It was the first commercial bungy jump in the world. I said to my Mum i would stay away from the extreme sport things to begin with, however after speaking to the crew at the jump, they assured me it would be fine, as you arent jerked around at all, and your knees stay slightly flexed during the whole thing, and cant move. (I'm sure when i speak to her later she will need more convincing... ;) )
Anywho, after that excitement we arrived in Queenstown, which is a lot different to what i expected. I thought it would be a large town with high rise buildings, but its actually quite small, (but lots of residential parts surrounding the town centre) and i guess it can be comparable to Fareham, back home, with a main street and a shopping centre and stuff... but its A LOT nicer to be in Queenstown! :P First meal in Queenstown was a famous Fergburger, which are delicious, and im off to have one after i finish this.
The next day, was spent hurling ourselves from a podium, free-falling 60m till we started to swing at 150kph through a canyon. This was called Canyon Swinging (if you hadnt guessed) and was possibly the most fun ive had here so far! You could try out all sorts of positions. I did a standard "Pin Jump" and then a more extravagant "Elvis Cutaway". The jump-master told me they call it the elvis cutaway, because elvis is dead... But they did that to everyone to try and scare them. It was so much fun!
And finally today, I did another bungy jump. However this one was higher than the first one i did... A LOT HIGHER. Its called the Nevis, and its 134m high, with almost 8 seconds free-fall. I think its the 3rd highest in the world, and the highest in NZ. It was absolutely amazing, and i loved every second of it. (As it was over quite quickly) And yet again, my body feels fine afterwards, and the adrenaline buzz is euphoric! I wanted to go again! I got the movie and pictures from it, and also some pictures from my first one, but i didnt want to put them up quite yet in case my Mum saw them and had a heart attack... They will be going up soon!!! :)
There, all updated!
Im off to have a Fergburger!
Till next time folks!!!
