Hello!
The past 2 days i have been in a place called Franz Josef, home of the 2nd fastest moving glacier in the world.
And today, we hiked for 8 hours up, down, around, and through the glacier!
It was very interesting, learning a lot about the Franz Josef glacier, and also the region, and glaciers in general. Did you know that the Franz Josef glacier is one of only 3 glaciers that end in a sub tropical climate (a rainforest). One of the others is just south of here, called the Fox Glacier, and the other one is somewhere in South America. But yeah so today has been very interesting, and tiring on the feet. My body otherwise feels fine! :)
Yesterday, after arriving in the town, we had a choice of a skydive, or kyaking. I didnt want to do everything too soon, so decided on the kyaking, which was actually very enjoyable, and set in a really beautiful lake. We also went off the main lake, and ventured in to a inlet, which led us in to a sanctuary, which had kiwis! they are a noctournal animal so we didnt see any, but still lots of other wildlife was about. Also the water was so still, it was like a mirror across the lake. Im going to upload both the pictures from the hiking and the kyaking in a moment.
But yeah so tomorow we are headed to Wanaka, where me and a few mates ive met are hopping off the bus and staying an extra night, to get more stuff in! Not sure on the internet availability there, but after that ill be headed to queenstown, where this leg of the coach journey ends, so ill get some somewhere eventually :D
Anyway enough chatting. Will speak soon!
Stay tuned!
