Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all Okay with all that snow your having!
We are en route to Chile right now, but I wanted to tell you all about the Colca Canyon.
We left early again, up at 6am, this is becoming routine for us now.
We were picked up at our hotel and set off for the Colca Canyon. It is like the Grand Canyon but twice as deep with wild condors nesting there. Unfortunately we did not see any!!
On our way there we stopped to see herds of llamas and a flock of pink flamingos - so we had a small dose of wildlife. We also went to some nice hot springs for a soak after our visit to the Canyon. We then walked back to our hotel.
We spent the following night in Arequipa but we did not see much as we arrived late and left early in the morning.
We had a 5 hour bus journey to Tacna then a taxi across the boarder to Chile, Arica. We shared a taxi with a nice English couple from Cornwall, Leo and Heather.
We stayed in a nice hostel call 'End of the Trail'. That night we went out for dinner with Heather and Leo. It was a good night, although Lindsey accidentally ordered conger eel!
Next day Lindsey slept until 2:30pm!!?? She must have been really tired..
We had a surfing lesson booked. Lindsey managed to stand up twice, which was really good. I need more practice but still enjoyed myself.
We both enjoyed Arica.
We are now on our way to Santiago on the longest bus journey ever - 30 hours. Yes... 30 hours! We then have a few days in Santiago before we fly to New Zealand! Can't believe we are half way through our trip already!!
Speak to you all soon
Love Graham and Lindsey
