Today was an awesome day! We decided to go kayaking round Abel tasman. so we got picked up from the campsite about 7am (yaaaaawn) and got a wee bus to Marahau and got our safety talk on kayaking! I was a bit nervous as you get like stuck in so if you go under the water you need to get out the thing before you drown-the guide , Jeremy, did say that he had worked there 10 years and only 3 kayaks had went under but I wasn't so sure! Anyway made way to beach and went in kayaks! Me and Graeme were in one with me at front and Graeme steering at the back, then chucky and Jamie were in another with chucky front and Jamie at back! And there was another 2 couples and Jeremy. So we set off and it was awesome. After 10 mins or so our arms were aching it was hard work but great fun! We kayaked for about 3 hours, stopping at some bits to get information on and passed lots of nice wee beaches and coves. The weather was great so that was a bonus, although we did get a tad burnt! jamie and chucky were hilarious and seemed to be all over the place, don't know if it was due to chuckys directions or Jamies steering! They were like a married couple having a few domestics in the 3 hours lol! And for some reason my bum got absolutely soaked even tho no one else did! Think graeme did it on purpose lol! We got to watering cove, a wee secluded beach and stopped there for lunch. It was great, filled rolls, muffins, apples and juice/tea. The beach was lovely and got some great fotos! Only annoying thing was the sandflies, they were like midges and think we will have lots of bites from them! Stayed at watering cove for about an hour and a half then the water taxi came and picked us up and took us about 15 min along the Abel Tasman to torrent bay. Then we walked from there to bark bay, which was about 2 hour walk. It was great, kind of through forest and great views and also went over a swing bridge! Jamie isn't great with heights so the boys though it would be funny to jump etc on it but we made it across safe! Got to bark bay and we were the only ones there, the rest of the group were quite a bit behind as the walk wasn't guided so you could go at ure own pace. Wee sunbathed, paddled, wrote in the sand and just messed around! It was awesome! Then the water taxi picked us up about 3pm and we made our way back to the start! On way back we stopped at a seal colony and saw a few fur seals. Then back to the base and got a wee bus back into Nelson. It was really a great day! Got back and showered etc out for dinner to a wee italian! Then watched the rugby, was all blacks vs France so very exciting! Got back in campervan tonight and to my disgust there was more ants than before all over the sink, down the units and in the area at the end of the sofas! Gadz it was mingin, so I got out my sun tan lotion spray and killed them all then investigated whe they were comin from! Checked the sink and cleared away a few dishes etc then thought nothing else I can do just now. Then a bit later in comes chucky and decides to clean out his bag pack,stating it hadn't been emptied since a few trips ago! Surprise surprise there was a few apple cores, open bags of sweets etc ohhh and more ants! Bloody chucky hadnt remembered he had food in there! Anyway hopefully that will have solved the problem and stop the ants from coming in! Straight to bed now as we are all pretty knackered after our day!
