Graeme round the world
Day 67 Tuesday 30th May - Up early to have breakfast on the decking on the beach, this really is the perfect location for the hostel :o) Hired a moped for a quick burn up round the Island, before Oz Bus Sea Kayaking landing on the Nudist Beach for a quick nudie run by Paul, Jas, our driver and me around the rocks on the beach and then back into the sea, before sailing back to our part of the beach. I hired a jet ski and took the Jette on the back who screamed in my ear as we took over the waves with our feet and bums in the air, sometimes landing so hard that the water shot up and filled up my goggles, absolutely brilliant fun and she was a top sport for trusting my riding, which the guys from the beach looked very professional until the end of the ride when I came in close to the beach almost to a stop so they could take photos and then just tipped over :o) Luckily they let me off the normal $500 fine which you get if you flip it . Ferry ride back to Townsville, which had the largest Aboriginal community I have seen so far. Drove through Tully which has the highest rainfall in Australia.....from between 2m to a high of 8m....think we can stop complaining about the rain we get back home now! Went on a couple of bush walks, firstly to see the view of Hinchley Island surrounded by mangrove swamps and then to the rainforest which was devastated by Cyclone Larry which hit about 6 weeks ago and will take the forest 50 years to grow back. Drove through the local town, which had so many roofs and building torn down by the 320kmh winds. Good hostel with a pool, had roast Kangaroo in plum sauce, which was yummy and played drinking games, but went to bed relatively early as I had signed up for an early morning SKYDIVE.............................
