Graeme round the world
Day 86 - Sunday 18th of June. My last day in India and my last day of sightseeing :o(((((((( Up at 5am to vist the Taj Mahal for just after sunrise. As you walk towards the gated entrance you catch a glimpse of the Taj and you are transfixed, it is a truly amazing sight and gave me goose bumps. My driver Viyay told me it would be even better than all the postcards and he was right. It was stunning and very emotional to see something so beautiful in the flesh. Despite my picture it is huge and cost $1m to build 300 years ago, made of marble and encrusted with jewels and precious stones, taking over 20 years to build and was built by the Sultan as a sign of love for his wife. Seeing the Taj made my trip complete and a perfect end to India and also on the last day of my round the world schedule. We did vist the Agra Fort which was also great and the 'mini Taj' which was also very beautiful but after seeing the Taj Mahal nothing could compare........................Decided to drive back to Dehli after lunch rather than take the late train tonight, so I can relax before the early morning start tomorrow. Saw 4 trucks that had overturned on the ride back luckily no-one hurt. It is amazing that I didn't see more accidents as the road system is crazy, only a policeman who had fallen off his scooter on a straight road late at night with no traffic, which my driver said was probably caused by being drunk!! I have loved India, it's 'orgainsed' chaos, it's welcome and open spirit, the beauty of it's countryside and amazing temples and forts :o)))))))))))
