Bula!! (Hello in Fijian!)
I feel that there was so much stuff I missed out of my last Fiji entry, but now I have finally made it to a computer I have forgotten it all again! One main thing is Kava- the local traditional drink made from water and a root plant- and looks like brown, murky dirty water. You have to down it in one from a coconut cup, andit is supposed to calm you and they reckon it is good for the body as well. It tastes and smells awful, and I don't really see the point of it as after a few you fall asleep! The Fiji people carry on drinking it for hours even thoguh they don't like the taste either!
I am so glad to be feeling clean now! As much as Fiji is a lovely palce, you smell of sea water all the time as the showers use the salt water as well. You are continually sticky, and having a shower back on the mainland was the best thing ever!
We are now in Auckland, which feels pretty homely already. The city is not quite as big as I thoguht- smaller than London and with loads of shops calling out to us, which so far we have managed to resist! We will be here for a few nights, so will probably blog again when we move on. Pics coming very soon! xxx
