Last message before welcoming you home later this week. Looking forward to seeing you and hearing so much more. This website has been fascinating. I think you should carry on blogging! Enjoy your time in NY. I am finishing off a couple of uni assignments and then I'm free to play. Springtime in London can be fun! Much love, Frankie
Kim
So your last enterers also called you Gandalf? Anyways, I finally saw the musical for Lord of the Rings in Toronto and thought of you fondly. I can not believe you are still travelling..it will be interesting to hear how you "simulate" that when back in lovely London. Please go see a Broadway show for me, I saw Wicked when it was here. The good news about New York - low potential for malaria, no altitude issues, they do not really like eating guinea pigs and prefer lamb to alpaca.

G'day Gandalf,
We are still checking your postcards regularly, and are both still amazed that this all began 6 months ago in a picturesque little town called Chennai (which im sure was the highlight of your entire trip!). I still wouldnt mind seeing those photos from the Brazilian beaches (strictly for the scenery of course). Envious as always, Jim n Tash.

Gordon-
I'm very happy to hear that you're enjoying Rio. It is my favorite place in the world for many of the reasons you described. I will be returning to the "Ciudade Marvellosa" this coming October to celebrate my 40th birthday and I'm practically counting the days. Haven't travelled much at all aside from some short work trips to Boston and Dallas. Its driving me crazy that I don't have anything in the works, but my job(you had one of those once, remember?) keeps me too busy at the moment to take time off, so I 'm stuck here in San Francisco for the foreseeable future. Could be worse fates....
As always, I love to read your travelogues and glad to hear you are feeling better. Try not to strain your neck watching the ladies walk by..
Cheers,
Kevin

Can't wait for the scenic shots of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Jim

Hi GR. Am very glad to read that you are feeing better. I can't imagine many things worse than being unwell like that so far from home. You really are remarkable. I am well and business is very good. Two of my colleagues are off to New York tomorrow for "meetings" before travelling to Canada to the press night of Lord of the Rings in Toronto. Apparently it is running at 3hrs 40mins but the first preview was just under 5! They are protesting rather too loudly for my liking that it really is "work". Yeah right! The furthest I have been is fifteen - Jamie Oliver's newish restaurant. The food was good but choice was very limited and it was loud, too loud to have any sort of proper conversation with anybody other than the person next to you in fact, so I won't be going there again. Am glad I went though even if I ended up £50.00 lighter for the experience. Have seen some awful theatre - (Sinatra so called LIVE at The Palladium - bring him back to life and then I'll clap and isn't it funny he was a gangster - NO) - Shirley Bassey looked lovely in her frock though. Luckily I left before Nancy told us all what a great guy her Dad was and what he would have thought of us all. You have to come home soon. I am turning into a bitter cynic! Am very much looking forward to my weekend and hope that you have a great one too wherever you are. Lots of love, LW xxxxxx

Sorry didnt send you a birthday message on the day. Hope you spent it somwhere memorable and that you werent at the time on one of your enforced exclusion diets (rice and grilled fish)! You should be back in time to enter for The Guardian over 50s travel competition; they are offering three months funding for travel if you tell them where you want to go and why. Seems like a good idea for you doesnt it? Why stop you now you're having such a good time (to quote Queen). See you soon.

It was a pleasure travelling with you through Peru, god your pictures are good...I feel like downloading them and calling them my own. How would you like me to get pics to you?
Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a Pisco Sour or two, and skipped the Guinea Pig meal.

Beautiful Spring day here - crocuses, snowdrops and green parakeets in Battersea Park. The sort of day that makes for both contentment and excitement. I hope that you are feeling just as good.Much love.
