Rainforests never disappoint - definitely heard rain during the night....but once again it wasn't long and the sun was shinning!
Packed up and cooked brekkie and were saying goodbye to the Daintree before 9am. Drove straight to the ferry and fortunately only had to wait for the ferry to complete its crossing and we were on board. Detoured to Wonga Beach...really only because it was mentioned in the book I'm reading but a non-event! Had our morning coffee at Mossman ...Goodies Cafe....then on the road again and were in Port Douglas in no time. Drove through town checking out the scene and soon feeling the touristic vibe. Parked at the end of town near the water and went for a wander..(booked Salsas restaurant for Monday lunch....lucky to get that..) and spotted a few other venues of interest. Decided to find our accommodation even though only about 1130....and was such a bonus that our room was ready. A pleasant studio apartment - only small but comfy. Unpacked and settled, got some washing on and headed off to do some shopping, visiting the lookout over the beach on the way. Came back to our unit for lunch then off to the beach for a relax and swim (water was 24 degrees!), a beer at the surf club then back to shower and change.
We walked the short distance into town checking out the various venues on the Marina area, booked another restaurant for Saturday night then finished up at the well reknown Tin Shed, part of the Port Douglas & District Combined Clubs. Great sunset drinks and lovely meal! Barramundi and mussels! Need an early night before big day tomorrow!
