Our hotel on the Grand Canal

Have a drink! Actually this is the 2nd place we went to. The previous pic was in a side canal, this place was in one of the main squares. Lauren was saying she prefers to go to places where the menu is only in Italian as those in English are more touristy. Problem is Venice is all about tourists. Started the day on a private boat on the grand canal to St. marks square. First to the Doges' Palace & the Bridge of Sighs. Really amazing ( I think I've said that before). When we walked out of the palace the square was flooded. The Venetians have boards about a metre wide on frames that stand about 50cm off the ground that they place all around the flooded areas so people can still get around.
