Slept in a little today after being wakened by thunder and fridge beeping after power failure at 7am. Went in to Westport for gas, water and a delicious breakfast at the Tangled Garden cafe. Had a great day of waterskiing. Marlis, Ness, Maia and Ewan all skied. Around 3, John and Marin arrived, then Doris, Bryn, Kaie and Oma. Quiet day at cottage. Rainer and Jen left this morning. Just the Dalling 5 now. Marlis did a 10km run this morning. Kids still sleeping at 11!

Day 2: cool and wet. Not much of an exploring day so we hung around the campsite most of the day. Did do a little paddle up the channel to the northwest of our site. Saw what we thought was a fishing boat in the distance but it turned out to be 2 tundra swans! Baked pizza for supper on the Outback Oven. Today the five of us (and Angus) set off in our old white Nova Craft canoe and brand new Souris River on Meditation Lake. It was a long (1 km) portage from the parking area to the first lake. After an easy sandy put-in, we headed across the lake about 2 km.
