Glenn's Travels
So, Im 2000 kilometres down the coast and have reached Brisbane - the third largest city in Australia. My first night here was spent with my dad's cousin, Peter, and his family, which was a really nice change from nights at hostels. We went up Mount Coot-tha and had a great view of nighttime Brisbane followed by a trip down the river on a CityCat ferry (at least I think that's what you call it). I was exhausted from having travlled down from Hervey Bay and had a great night's sleep. The next morning, I have to say, I was quite surprised to find out that I was going jet-skiing with Ian - another of my dad's cousins. We headed south and jumped on the jet-skiis. Very fast, very bumpy, but a whole lot of fun. I got to see Seaworld and Surfer's Paradise, which looked awesome from the sea. The open water was way too choppy, so we stayed on the rivers. Even so, 80 km/h is quite fast, and fast enough for me. That night, I stayed at Ian's with his family, and the next day I was away to Australia Zoo with my Aunt Rose and Uncle Victor, along with Becky. That was a lot of fun, and I finally got to see a few Australian animals - Kangaroos, Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Crocodiles - the whole lot. The weather was perfect (in fast, Brisbane is in the middle of a drought, but tit was perfect for me), and I had another fantastic day. That night I checked into the People's Palace and just spent the next day checking out the city centre and relaxing. It's very different from the rest of the coast that I'd seen, as not everyone is a tourist, in fact most people aren't , so it was definately a change of pace. I could easily have spent more time there, but I could say the same thing about everywhere I've been. Just gotta keep moving...
