I must start this blog entry by dedicating it to the restaurant we ate in last night (name I cant remember). I ordered the SMALL sea food bucket, 1 beer and 1 large bottle of water. I asked what was contained in the bucket and they listed a range of stuff with rice, I thought it sounded good so I thought I would splash out and get it. The plate arrived and there was about a selection of around 4 different types of shell fish (probably around 15 in total) and that was it, not even a small portion of rice……. I nearly had a heart attack, I called the waitress over and asked if rice was coming, she said 'NO' and then paused for what seemed like an eternity……. Make that an eternity and a half, in which time I'm pretty sure I had 5 heart attacks and fell off my chair, finally she finished her sentence; "No….. that comes with the fish". My heart came back to life and I lifted myself back onto the chair with such joy thinking that they would soon be bringing me a fish and rice. I was wrong the fish and rice didn't come to much later, first after the shells came two gigantic prawns, with a garlic dip. After demolishing that came a massive squid ready sliced with a delicious dressing on it. Then before finishing that the fish and rice came, it was gorgeous (probably one I had seen earlier while snorkelling), the meal just slide off the bone. After finishing it all and being most satisfied the bill came……. 150,000 Dong, for the food and drink, it was an expensive meal but well worth it (about £4.50- and no I haven't accidentally put the decimal place in the wrong place). Rachel had some tiny little chicken thing-not much more to say about that. We then had an early night and headed back.
Today we had a bit of a lie in then got up and headed to the hotel's rooftop for breakfast. The good food times were obviously over as there were only some half baguettes and 1 cold fried egg and 1 cold pancake on offer. The waitress disappeared suddenly and I got excited thinking she was going to get more food, I was right……. She came back with a pot of strange looking home-made jam, wow that made it so much better. In fairness the jam was pretty tasty.
We then headed out for a walk by the beach that was gorgeous. We stopped in an area with some of the rest of the group and Rachel swam with some of them while I paddled with the rest. Six of us then headed off to the Mud Baths. We had a private tub for us, which was filled with warm mud that really stung the sunburn from the day before. After sitting in there for 25 minutes we dried up on the sun beds (thankfully the sun wasn't shining otherwise the burn would be stinging more now). After 10 minutes we headed to a shower that was a gap between two walls with powerful sprays jetting out both sides, which killed the sunburn. We then headed to a roasting hot mineral bath, which once again stung the sunburn even more than the other two put together. After that torture we had a shower under a fake waterfall then had a swim in the swimming pools. Rachel and the other girls decided they wanted to go in the kiddie pool to play on the slides, they slyly wondered over then the lifeguard appeared and told them they couldn't, after flattering their eyes for a few seconds he soon caved and let them go on as many slides as they wanted, some where very high….. about 2.5 meters. We lounged around for a bit longer and then headed back to the town and got a quick Italian meal before headed to the train station. We are now on the night train again heading to Hoi Ann. This one should take around 11 hours and isn't as nice as the last, bit dirtier and no TV, plus we have already seen a small cockroach running across the floor, but don't worry I'm on the top bunk so I should be safe, not so sure about Rachel though.
