Today surprisingly Rachel was the first one up as she was so excited that she was picking up her dress. We hired some bikes for the morning (peddle ones not mopeds) and went out on a 3 hour bike tour, this was the most exercise I have done all trip…… make that all year……. Make that in my life. We were told it was right lane driving so we cycled through the town on the right hand side, however I think someone needs to tell the Vietnamese that its right side driving and not left, right, middle, path and anywhere else driving. We finally got through the town and out into the countryside and amazingly we all made it. We stopped at a few places to bake in the sun along the way. First we stopped and saw some farmers, then we stopped and so a farmer watering her crops and I had a go at some of the gear and got given some mint leafs mmmm filling.
The third stop was some guys fishing, then some water buffalo, then 1 water buffalo and a farmer who let us sit on it and have our photo's taken for 5,000 (about 15p) bargain. We then cycled round for ages more and finally got to a restaurant and stopped for a drink. The tour guide was all our best friend as he brought out cold wet towels for us to cool down …….. for around 30 seconds before they warmed up in the heat. We then put all our bikes on a boat and sailed back to the main town (thank goodness we didn't have to ride back it was miles I would have had to call a taxi.
We then headed to a restaurant and got a spring roll buffet eat as much as you want, and we were allowed to make them ourselves. But as we were all doing such a rubbish job the waitress took pity and started making them for us. All I remember is I would eat one then another one would be placed in my hand, bliss I didn't even need to reach down to my plate to pick it up, that's eating with ease.
After that we headed back to the hotel and I got a quick freshen up and Rachel got dolled up ready for the big occasion of picking up her dresses - she was so excited. We cycled down there and went in she tried on the short white flowery one first which looked amazing but was still a bit tight so was sent back for modifications. Then she tried the long black one on - WOW, it looked stunning on her but still needed a slight bit of adjustment. We were about to leave when I thought since the dress was so lovely I might as well splash out and ask about getting something tailor for me. So I approached the lady and asked if she could make me some silk boxer shorts, we haggled on the price for a bit then I finally agreed to splash out £10 for two pairs. So she took my measurements and said they would be ready by 5:30.
We headed back to the hotel and went for a swim. We chatted to other people who were in the pool from our tour about the dresses. Then I mentioned the boxer shorts and Sam got excited, so after a swim we headed back to the shop, picked up my boxer shorts, which were great. Sam then ordered some for himself paying slightly more but for some amazing Japanese silk ones with dragonflies on them. Rachel then tried on her dresses again, The black one fit perfectly and made me go WOW again, but the white one was still a little tight so was sent back for more adjustments.
I then splashed out loads more money on a Billabong T-shirt for £1.50, before me, Rachel, Sam and Tin headed to the Japanese Bridge to meet Martin and Sophie. We waited for 15 minutes debating how long to wait and agreeing that this was definitely the correct bridge as there was not other bridges crossing the river that we could see. We took lots of pictures of the Japanese Bridge that looked pretty cool. They finally showed up 20 minutes later and explained the Japanese Bridge was round the corner and they had been there for ages. We had a look and agreed their Bridge looked a lot more Japanese then ours by far.
We stopped for a quick dinner and I had a few local beers for 4,000 (12p). The waitress asked where we were from and then asked if we used coins (here they don't have coins only notes). She then asked if any of us had any she could give to her son, so I gave her me last shiny pound coin. Afterwards I realised that would have bought me over 8 beers
We then headed back to the dress shop and Sam got his silk dragonfly boxer shorts, which looked awesome. Rachel tried on her dress again and it looked amazing. We then all left happy and headed out for a couple of drinks before headed back for an early-ish night.
