On the Friday we woke up (after a lovely night sleep in a bed!) and we used the internet to catch up on our jobs for most of the morning while chilling, as we had the room to ourselves now. In the afternoon, Graeme then took me for a walk around Darwin… not sure about walk really more like a trek maybe! We went to the tourist info for a bit, then went for a look at the beach again. Then we headed across town to look at Coff's Harbour and the Beach which were nice. We then popped back to the hostel with very tired feet for some pasta and a chill out in the TV lounge. Watched Last Chance Harvey. We then headed back to our room. Still no new people had arrived so we were very lucky to have the room to ourselves, yey!
On the Saturday we woke early to go to Litchfield National Park. We grabbed a quick breakfast then drove out of town. We first stopped for a cup of tea in a little café to wake us up a bit. Then we headed to the Magnetic Termite Grounds. There were loads of mounds, some were about 3 to 5 metres high. Then we drove on to Buley Rockhole which had a beautiful waterfall with a little rock hole. We had a little paddle and a bit of a swam then headed on to the next. The next was a magnificent waterfall called Florence Falls, we had a swim around the pool at the bottom and swam over to the waterfall for a closer look before heading back to shore. We then carried on to a viewing place on Tolmer Falls unfortunately you weren't allowed to swim due to the chance of scaring off some bats in the area.
The next was a magnificent twin waterfall called Wangi Falls. It had a large pool at the bottom but you couldn't see the bottom very clearly so we had a swim out in it for a bit and had to swim through lots of leafs and branches on the surface so we headed back. Then Graeme headed back in and swam over to the waterfalls and climbed out on the rocks next to one where he saw a massive lizard around a meter long which he thought was cool but I was glad I wasn't there as definitely would have wet myself. He sat on the rocks for a bit then sat on the rocks under the waterfall before swimming back via the other one.
We carried on to Walker Creek, but the swim area here was only very shallow and there was a giant cobweb across the whole stream with a spider in the middle. We couldn't decide if it was a poisonous one and since no one else was swimming there we decided to miss the swim there. We then headed back to Darwin. We drove to a beach on the east to watch the sunset which was really nice. We were lucky enough this night to have our room to ourselves again yey!
On the Sunday we had a bit of a lie in then headed out to the beach front to the wave machine pool. This was really good fun, they had free rubber rings and body boards you could use and the waves were really cool. We relaxed here for the afternoon. We then walked back to the hostel stopping off at Nandos for some food on the way mmm. We then headed back for an early night before our flight to Cairns tomorrow! And again, a free room!
