One month before sail away.
In January when a crisp new calendar was hung on the kitchen wall I wrote a list of preparations to be completed before end of November.
It read as follows:
Purchase Visas
Arrange coach to Southampton
Book Tours
Start packing ... Easy.
What I failed to realise at the time was the enormity and challenge involved in executing this, an essential prequel to a round the world cruise.
Never the less, as from today the only thing left on that list is packing... and there is no limit to the amount of luggage that can be taken on board ship.
Only a woman who has despaired over a 5 kilo micro wardrobe stuffed into her hand luggage for a glam week in Spain can understand the spine tingling thrill of being offered cart blanc.
Packing for all eventualities is a delight and a luxury. Even at the risk of sounding like Hyacinth Bouquet, having an outfit for any occasion, be it an impromptu game of deck quoits or canapés with the ship's officers can be factored in. More importantly however the logistics of transporting my entire wardrobe to the Arcadia becomes the next problem.
